巴金爱书，在文化圈内是出了名的。1949年上海解放前夕，巴金铜雕塑，巴金雕塑，巴金一家生活已很拮据了，但是省吃俭用，他还是要买书。一天，一向依着他的萧珊实在忍不住对他说：“家里已经没有什么钱了。”不知道家里到底有没有钱，日子能不能过下去的巴金说道：“钱，就是用来买书的。都不买书，写书人怎么活法？”第二天，他又带着孩子们去逛书店了。

Ba Jin Aishu is famous in the cultural circle. On the eve of Shanghai's liberation in 1949, the Bajin family was already living in a tight corner, but he still had to buy books to save money. One day, Xiao Shan, who had always been following him, couldn't help saying to him, "There is no money at home anymore." Ba Jin said, "Money is used to buy books. How can a writer live without buying books? The next day, he took the children to the bookstore again.

巴金虽闻名海内外，巴金铜雕塑，巴金雕塑，但“巴金”两字的由来却不是每个人都知道的，而且经常被人误解来源，猜测这两个字来自于巴枯宁和克鲁泡特金，其实不然。巴金在1957年9月27日致前苏联作家彼得罗夫的信中对自己的名字作了注解：“一九二八年八月我写好《灭亡》要在原稿上署名，我想找两个笔画较少的字。我当时正在翻译克鲁泡特金的《伦理学》，我看到了‘金’字，巴金铜雕塑，巴金雕塑，就在稿本上写下来。在这时候我得到了一个朋友自杀的消息，这个朋友姓巴，我和他在法国Cha-teau-Thierry同住了一个不长的时期。他就是我在《死去的太阳》序文中所说的‘我的一个朋友又在项热投水自杀’的那个中国留学生。我们并不是知己朋友，但是在外国，人多么重视友情。我当时想到他，我就在‘金’字上面加了一个‘巴’字。巴金铜雕塑，巴金雕塑，从此‘巴金’就成了我的名字。

Although Ba Jin is well-known at home and abroad, the origin of the word "Ba Jin" is not known to everyone, and it is often misunderstood. It is speculated that the two words come from Bakunin and Krupotkin, but in fact they are not. In a letter to former Soviet writer Petrov dated 27 September 1957, Ba Jin commented on his name: "In August 1928, when I finished writing Death, I wanted to sign the manuscript. I wanted to find two words with fewer strokes. I was translating Krupotkin's Ethics. I saw the word "gold" and wrote it down in the manuscript. At this time I got the news that a friend had committed suicide. His surname was Ba. I lived with him in Cha-teau-Thierry, France for a short time. He is the Chinese student who I said in the preface to "The Dead Sun" that "a friend of mine committed suicide by throwing himself into a hot water again". We are not bosom friends, but in foreign countries, people attach great importance to friendship. When I thought of him, I added a word "ba" to the word "gold". Since then, Ba Jin has become my name.
